How Opposing Counsel Became Partners

The Fickel & Davis Story

Mary Fickel and Richard Davis–former opposing counsel–founded Fickel & Davis in 2012 after litigating a bankruptcy case against each other for several years. Fickel had represented creditors at another San Diego law firm, while Davis was representing debtors as a sole practitioner. With shared passions for law and football (Fickel is a Chargers fan and Davis roots for the Raiders), they decided to join forces. The two partners now channel their decades of combined experience to provide highly personalized legal representation in post-judgment enforcement, civil litigation, and bankruptcy adversary proceedings that are often emotionally charged and tactically involved.
